RMC has been built on a knowledge and experience base. RMC has been there through the development of the modern age of energy and has the experience to show for it!
The project is located in the foothills near Tehachapi and Mojave where many of our crane roads had slopes of nearly 20 percent. The turbines are connected to SCE’s WindHub via six miles of 230kv transmission line. Due the size and complexity of the project, coordination and communication was imperative. The project required many permits from multiple entities. Our team developed a work sequence which allowed continuous work in permitted areas while permits were pending for other areas.
The Pringle Wind Farm is the largest project utilizing the DeWind turbine in the United States. Located on 1,600 acres, the project is connected directly into the 34.5kv XCEL distribution line.
The turbines at High Lonesome are among the largest, most powerful land-based wind machines in America with each unit capable of producing 2.5 megawatts. Located in a remote site 90 miles south of Albuquerque. Due to the remote site, we improved over 26 miles of county roads during construction.
The site was located in an oil field and we had to work around oil wells and pipelines. Project neighbors were concerned about the construction; therefore our team worked diligently to build relationships with the local residents and ensured that project information was well communicated with them. The project was successfully completed and the neighborhood was pleased with both the construction effort and the new facility.
During construction of the Top of Iowa II, simultaneous construction on adjacent sites was being performed. Close coordination was required with the other contractors to prevent disruption to delivery schedules. Throughout construction the project experienced severe weather conditions that required unique solutions and extraordinary measures to walk the crane, off load components, and erect the WTGs.
The project site had unusual and somewhat unexpected soil that required over-excavation and foundation design changes during construction. The project team overcame wet conditions to complete the wind farm on time.
